Privacy
UltraFuel is built local-first: your training and fueling data lives on your device, and syncs to your account in the background so your phone and the web app see the same data.
What we store
Your account email, your name if you provide one, and your athlete profile: weight, sweat rate, sodium and carbohydrate targets, and climate setting. Alongside that, the data you create in the app: runs, the fuel and fluids you log on them, how your stomach handled each run (GI feedback), gut-training progress, sweat-test results, and race plans with their aid stations.
Workouts you import
If you connect Strava, we store the activity summaries Strava shares: activity type, name, date, distance, duration, elevation, pace, and temperature. Never your Strava password. If you import workouts through Health Connect (Garmin, COROS, and other watches) or Apple Health, we read the same kind of workout summaries: type, date, duration, distance, and elevation. We do not read or store GPS routes, heart rate, or any other health records, and we never write anything back to Health Connect or Apple Health. The one time UltraFuel uses your location is the race-day beacon, described next, and you switch that on yourself.
Location: the race-day beacon
UltraFuel does not use your location unless you turn on the race-day beacon. It is off by default. You turn it on for one race at a time, from that race's tracker, while the race is running.
While it is on, your phone sends its position to your account roughly every three minutes. Crew members paired to that race can see it. The crew page link you shared shows only how far along the course you are, which aid station is next, and your phone's battery level; it does not carry your coordinates. Nothing about the beacon is shown to anyone who is not on your race, and we never use it for advertising or analytics.
You can see when it is running: Android keeps a notification in the shade the whole time, and iOS shows its location indicator. The beacon stops when you turn it off, when you finish the race, and when you reset it. The app also checks at launch and shuts down any beacon whose race has ended. Your last position is stored with the race and goes away when you delete the race or your account.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data, and we don't show ads. The app records a small set of usage events on your own account (like opening the app or viewing the paywall) so we can see how UltraFuel is doing as a product; those stay ours, tied to your account like the rest of your data, and are never shared or used for advertising. We don't share your training history with anyone. Crew members you invite to a race see only that race's plan and log, never your training history. Crew access expires 48 hours after you share it.
Where it lives
Synced data is stored with our database provider (Supabase) and protected by per-account access rules. Data on your phone stays on your phone and works fully offline. If you connect Strava, its access tokens are kept in your phone's secure storage, never in the synced database.
The retired waitlist
Before launch, this site had a waitlist form. It's gone, nothing on this site collects your email anymore, and the addresses it gathered have been deleted. If you think we still hold your email from that era, write us at the address below and we'll confirm and remove it.
Your data, your call
You can export a full backup of your data from the app at any time. You can delete your account whenever you want: in the app under Me → Account → Delete account, or on the web at your web profile. Deleting your account immediately and permanently erases your profile, runs, fueling logs, race plans, and sweat tests, from both your devices and our servers. If you'd rather we do it for you, email the address below.
